Minelife - Making a sustainable difference in Africa

The Minelife Alliance: Who we are

MineLife is a coordinating Alliance for the mining industry established to channel aid and accelerate socio-economic development in mining-related communities. This Alliance maximises efficient delivery to those most in need. The overriding aim is to facilitate poverty reduction and affect the emergence of self-sufficient local economies. The initial focus will be on Africa, with the potential in the longer term to expand to other continents. MineLife will source socio-economic funding in collaboration with Aid Agencies, and screen suitable projects which will then be presented to partners. The goal is to channel maximum funding to the selected projects and directly assist target populations as rapidly and professionally as possible. MineLife is a non-profit organization.

Members and Partners

The MineLife Alliance was established in October 2005 as a not-for-profit collaboration of the extractive minerals industry, the sole objective of which is to contribute meaningfully to the well being, health and future long-term economic independence of the communities in which the extractive industry operates and has influence. One of MineLife’s central objectives is partnership – we bring access to our labour force (present, past and future), private sector skills, accountability and experience to the table. In exchange we are looking for partners who can assist us to maximise our reach and impact on the development needs of the communities that we work in, and that our employees come from.
